Comments: Written by his Grandchild (Also called John Stott)

He was born at Town Lane Farm, Eccleshill, then his family moved to Moorside Farm, Eccleshill, Nr Bradford. After a few years My Grandfather took the tenancy of Bank Top Farm, Eccleshill. He married his wife Lavinia Brayshaw, They were married at the Cathedral at Bradford Grandad Stott was a well built strong man. Stern character and prone to have rather a short fuse although he was well disposed towards me. He was a very staunch Wesleyan, ( although a little story follows that he once walked a cow that was in service to be served by a neighbors bull The owner of the bull was a Quaker and as it was Sunday he said that he would have to consult the lord to see if it was alright for his Bull to serve my Grandfathers cow, any-way the owner of the Bull came out of the house and told my Grandfather that the Lord had said that he was not allowed to use his bull on the Sabbath, so as I said Grandfather had a short fuse and said “Bugger you and your Bull” then left the Quaker looking quite aghast.) Even though my Grandfather went gradually blind from the age of forty, he must have been quite prosperous Because he owned half a dozen houses, although by the time  he died the property had deteriorated and was worth very little. Three of the houses which were left to my father were in Windill Bradford, by the time my father inherited these houses they were condemned and my father had to clear the site, which in those days was worthless. Grandfather died at around the age of 75 and at that time lived at Hill Top Farm, Birkenshaw, Bradford. He was buried at Norman lane Cemetery,  Eccleshill, Bradford

P.S. Grandfather owned another three houses, which were willed to his daughter,----(my aunty Annie)--- I believe those houses will still be standing and will be on Peach Street, West Bowling, Bradford
