Comments: Written by her Grandson, John Stott
Lavinia Stott (nee Lavinia Brayshaw)
Little is known about Grandma Stott before she came to Eccleshill, only that she came as house keeper for Mathew Stott who was her future husbands father. She eventually married John Stott and they lived and farmed at Bank top Farm at Eccleshill, it is thought she came from Ireland. Grandma Stott was a religious person who attended the Wesleyan church regularly, she was a strong determined woman who liked her own way, although my memory was of an old woman because she was well into her sixty’s when I was born, apart from being slightly lame she kept in good health until she died. She died of a stroke where she still lived at Bank Top Farm, and she was buried at Norman Lane Cemetery, Eccleshill, Bradford
