Introduction written by Brendan Newell.
Some months ago I read a book by Anne Rice called "The WitchingHour" in which a story is told which spans hundreds of years, following theMayfair family through the generations. I was entranced by this book and I canhighly recommend it to anyone who has an interest in fantasy fiction. Readingthis book led me to wonder how much of a family tree could I make.
I downloaded a program for my pc called GenoPro within which I could keep arecord of everything I found out.
The construction of my family tree really went through three stages.
The first stage was just me putting together the basics of my family tree but itdid not span far beyond my parents and their parents as well as my aunties anduncles and their children.
The second stage however expanded the family tree in many directions - I simplyasked around the family for any relatives they could think of that I had notincluded and my mother actually had a large family tree already down on paper.
The third stage expanded the family tree beyond anything I could have imagined. My grandfather (John Stott) had been in touch with a relative who I had neverheard of and that relative had done a large amount of research into our family, investigating public records, graveyards and other sources of information. Hehad traced our family back far further than I had ever thought would bepossible.
I have now entered a kind of fourth stage in which I am gatheringdescriptions of every family member that I can as well as photos of family andplaces.
In addition, I have recently married Laura and I have begun to include herfamily tree with mine.
It is my hope to eventually include on this website a description and a photoof everyone who is still alive and as many deceased as is possible.
That way our descendants will be able to come to this website and investigatethe information contained within.
If you are on this family tree and you want to add something to your owndescription or to someone else's or if you have a picture that I can use thenplease email me at brendannewell@yahoo.co.uk
