Lack of posting

Sorry I haven't posted all week. My only excuse is that it's been a pretty boring week and I haven't had a lot to say.
Reece is out in Spain now with Vicky so the house feels a bit emptier at the moment. I made quite a lot of progress in the bomb site that is our dining room earlier in the week which is good. Hopefully I will be able to make some more progress tonight while Laura is at work.
We're off to Amsterdam next week which will hopefully rock. Must remember to get some Euros sorted before Thursday otherwise I wont be able to buy anything.
I've been quite down recently. Whether or not I have a good reason for being down is something that I am trying to work through on my own at the moment. It's not really something I can speak to anyone about until I have resolved it and I hope that anyone who has noticed that I'm a bit down will just put up with me for now and leave me to sort my head out. Hopefully I will be able to fill you all in before too long anyway.

Resolution?

Well I have spoken to my mum and laura again and i think that laura believes the truth now about what happened. She was still being a bit off with me when i asked about it but i understand that she is very upset at the moment. Her mum isnt speaking to her because she thinks there is some kind of conspiracy going on in our family to destroy her their relationship which is just ridiculous.
Anyway, my mum has told laura that if her mum ever rings again she is just going to say that she doesnt have time to talk so that there is no way she can ever have her words twisted again.
I feel much the same.
I entered my relationship with laura and despite what laura told me about her mum i made no prejudgements whatsoever. I am very much a family oriented person and the oppertunity to expand my family to include laura's really appealed to me. The treatment I, Laura and my family have received from Laura's mother and Laura's family in general has driven me to the point where I want nothing to do with them.

The mother-in-law

So I'm sure anyone who knows me knows about Laura's mother. I'm not going to get tied up in the details here because what happened last night is fairly exemplary of what she is like anyway.
Last night we went to the pictures. As per my previous post, Anya had been a nightmare on Sunday night so my mum and dad had offered to look after Anya last night so that we could have a nice peaceful evening.
At the pictures we saw "Saw" which was pretty good I thought. The acting was a little questionable at the end but it was probably made worse by the idiot kids on the back row who felt that they had to make jokes about it in loud voices. I hate the way that whenever you see a film there is always some idiot who feels like they are being clever by ruining the film for everyone else. They need to be shot.
Anyway, while we were at the pictures Laura's mum tried to get hold of us. Obviously I couldnt answer my phone so true to form Laura's mum felt that it would be a good idea to ring my mum and dad.
She has had trouble getting in touch with Laura since Sunday because Laura left her mobile at my mum and dads house so she felt the need to let my mum and dad know this. My mum pointed out that we had been round at their house on Sunday to have a meal to say thankyou to Russ, Badger (who couldnt make it) and Paul for helping us move house and that Laura had left her mobile there.
At some point in the conversation Laura's mum found out that Anya was with my mum and dad and immediately made some comment about Laura being a bad mother for leaving her daughter with someone else when she had had a bad night the night before.
My mum tried to point out that they were just helping out as we had had a bad night because they are family and families are there for each other. Thats what families do.
Eventually we left the cinema and Laura rang her mum. We had no previous knowledge of my mums conversation with Laura's mum and in fact I only just spoke to my mum this morning and found out about it.
Laura's mum told Laura that she had rung my mum and my mum had said that we were round there on Sunday night having a family meal because thats what families do. She twisted my mums words to make it sound like my mum was having a dig at her. Unfortunately Laura believed her mum and despite my arguments to the contrary Laura could not be convinced using arguments like "why would my mum say something like that out of the blue?"
Because that is what Laura's mum is like. Thats why.
I can only presume that Laura's mum was drunk. She has a habbit of getting drunk on a nearly daily basis and calling people up and letting them know what she really thinks.
Sadly I think that Laura's mum is jealous of the relationship that has developed between Laura and my mum. Instead of trying to improve the relationship she has with Laura she feels that the best solution is to try to undermine the relationship that Laura and my mum have.
As is stands right now I am not a happy man. I have only just spoken to my mum and Laura is still convinced that my mum said what Laura's mum said she said. My mum is dropping Anya off at about 11 and I have asked her to speak to Laura to let her know what really happened.
What has upset me more than anything in this is not that Laura's mum has created this situation - she does this kind of thing all the time - but that Laura believed her.
No doubt updates will follow later today.

Sleepless nights

First of all, thankyou to everyone who has posted comments recently - it's always nice to get feedback on what I am writing.
On Saturday we went into Manchester and finally exchanged Reece's game that we bought him for his birthday that was missing some pieces. At the same time I couldnt resist buying myself a new game - The Lord of the Rings, The duel - which I hope to play soon. I also got some more dice since I cant find my dice anywhere and playing Warhammer Quest with only one die stolen Trivial Pursuits (or whatever other game is closest) is a nightmare. They are pretty cool dice - I got them from Fanboy3 in Manchester and they are speckled. I'm probably getting a little off-track.
So Saturday night Laura had Michelle round. Kieran also came over and we all had quite a laugh. Me and Reece had a game of Zombies!!! which I thought was pretty good although it probably would have been better with more than just the two of us.
Sunday I got up pretty early and headed over to Altrincham Carboot sale where I got a toy for Anya. More importantly I then had a McDonalds breakfast which was sweet. I won a few auctions on ebay later in the day (more B5 cards...) and then Sunday evening we had a tasty roast dinner at my mum and dads house.
After the tasty roast dinner we played Warhammer Quest (including the first appearance of my new dice). There were five of us playing (Me, Russ, Reece, Mum and Paul) and we got quite a long way before the inevitable string of 1s on the power roll meant that the dungeon literally filled up with monsters. They were queueing back three rooms to get at us and of course we all died horribly. (although possibly not as horribly as last time when a giant foot came out of the sky and crushed Reece)
And now to the title of my post today. Last night Anya was a nightmare. She would not sleep at all which meant a knock-on effect to me and Laura. I think Laura got it worse than I did but I'm still knackered this morning. I dont think she is ill or anything like that - it was just because we were up late and she was a bit unsettled.
Anyway, these things are sent to try us - I'm sure everything will be back to normal again tonight.
