The House Saga

So I got a call on Monday while we were on our way to the F5 course. The vendors of the house we were buying were refusing to pay for any more surveys to be done so the house fell through. At the end of the day I am unwilling to put my family's lives at risk so it's a shame but it's better this way.
On Tueday I got a call from Laura who had been to seen another house which she and Reece agreed was really nice. At this stage I have complete faith in her judgement so I told her to ring on Wednesday and put an offer in.
I should probably point out here that I think the estate agents are a little off in the way they treated Laura. She made an offer and they flat refused to take it to the vendor. In the end they were only willing to take our maximum offer to the vendor which is obviously what we were going to pay for the asbestos house. I suspect that this may have something to do with the fact that it is the same estate agents and they obviously know how much money we have. I may be wrong but it makes you think.
Anyway, we didnt hear anything back on Wednesday or Thursday but I went to view the house on Thursday night. Now I don't like to exaggerate but this house is SOOOO much better than the last one. It is much bigger and it has a huge garden rather than the 8ft by 4ft thing at the back of the asbestos house.
So yes I am very pleased. I hope our offer gets accepted but even if it doesnt, we have a little more money to play with thanks to my mum and dad who have offered to lend us some more.
I'm writing this on Friday and we still havent heard back yet so watch this space.

F5

So Monday was a pretty boring typical day at work. After work we set off for the F5 training course in London. The traffic was surprisingly ok and we made good time. The hotel was pretty sweet. From what Tim was saying, sometimes you get stuck in a really bad hotel just because no-one has been there before and Clarity don't know what it's like.
So the first day of the course was ok. We had actually covered most of it previously at Clarity but it was good to go through it again. Their F5 units starting playing up and for a couple of hours we had nothing to do which was a little disappointing.
The second day was much the same as the first, we had covered a lot of the stuff before but again it was good to go through it. Unfortunately their network keeled over and died early in the afternoon so again we were left with little to do for an hour or so.
Overall it was a good course to go on - we got a nice big manual to learn from and we got some hands-on experience.

Weekend

I have such original titles for my posts. Have to start making a bit more effort on those.
So where I left off I was about to go out to the pub with Simon.
Well he rang me at about half past eight to say that he had a headache and wasn't coming out. I felt a little let down since I had previously had a headache earlier on and I had taken something for it because I was looking foward to going out. Also I could have been showered and changed ready to rock & roll by that time. Fortunately I wasn't.
So I just got a takeaway. Watched "the firm" which I have never seen before. It's a pretty good film.
Then Sunday I got woken by Reece's phone going off. You see Reece has a really lame phone. When he gets a text message and doesn't answer it his phone feels a need to remind you every minute or so. Well Vicky texted Reece the night before when she was out on the beer and Reece (being a heavy sleeper) hadn't heard his phone going off. It woke me at about 6:30am and I couldnt get back to sleep again afterwards. I spent the rest of the day knackered.
I went for a walk in the morning with Cally and Anya which was nice. Cally went after the ducks and Anya found it highly amusing :-)
After that we went to Vicky's mum and dad's wedding anniversary party (also a leaving party for Vicky). It was quite fun, very quiet type party but I enjoyed myself. During the course of the day my dad collared me and my brothers one at a time and asked us if we could go for a drink with him later that day. None of us knew quite what he wanted to talk about but we all suspected it was something to do with the problems him and mum are having.
The evening came and I was so knackered by then that we didn't go to the pub but he came and spoke to us while we were at home. He basically just said that although him and mum were having problems, things were on the way up and that we shouldn't worry. A marriage isn't perfect and no marriage will survive as long as theirs without some problems. What makes a marriage strong is working through those problems together and coming out the other side.
He is right and I do feel reassured now. My mum had previously mentioned that things were getting better between them and my dad confirmed this by what he said.
It seems like although there may be a way to go before these problems are entirely sorted out, they are getting there and I don't think I will be posting about this anymore unless anything changes.
