April post
It's been just over a month since I last posted so I thought I'd do a quick update. Hopefully I'll post again before May...
Car news first. My car has totally had it. It failed its MOT on ten different things (mostly nothing important but a few potentially expensive) then a couple of days ago the battery light started blinking and it hasnt stopped yet. The battery isnt dead so I have to wonder what the problem is. Anyway, the long and short of it is that rather than try and get the car fixed up and get it through its MOT I'm selling it (or scrapping it) and buying my mum and dads car - my mum is buying her dream car so alls well that ends well.
I'm writing a game at the moment which is entirely web based and should be quite cool if I ever finish it. It seems like every bit of progress I make introduces another piece of work that needs doing and the further I go the more complicated it gets. It's great news from a gameplay point of view since there is more to do but its a nightmare from my point of view. I keep losing track of what I need to do to get it finished. Anyway I hope to get it finished before the end of the month so if there is anyone who wants to playtest the first version then let me know - it will take up very little of your time and will just require you to logon for a few minutes a few times each day for as long as the game lasts.
In other news, I finally bought myself an antworks ant farm. If you havent heard of them, they consist of some gel thing which the ants can dig through and also eat so it's pretty easy to take care of. Catching ants - not easy. More specifically, whenever I opened the thing to drop another ant in I lost a few quick runners as they escaped. Anyway I finally got 14 of them in it this morning (I was aiming for 15 but if 14 is good enough for Gandalf...) I left them for a bit (the manual says it can take up to 48 hours for them to start digging) but when I went back a few hours later I found that half of them had escaped out of the airholes. Not impressed. So I got myself some more, blocked up the airholes (hope they are ok) and I've left them to it. I have some pictures of them having some kind of community meeting or something which I will hopefully upload with the rest of the pictures I need to upload. I'll post if they actually start digging....
